Kowr is an ongoing personal project delving into the ancient sites of Cornwall, blending art, history, and storytelling. These enigmatic locations, steeped in mystery and magic, have long captivated my imagination. Through this project, I aim to uncover the layers of folklore, theories, and cultural significance that surround these sites, channeling their stories into compelling visual designs.
Cornwall is not just the focus of my project—it is my home and the place where I feel most at peace. The rugged coastlines, windswept moors, and timeless landscapes have shaped who I am. Exploring its ancient history and folklore is deeply personal to me, as it feels like uncovering the roots of my own story. This connection makes Kowr a labor of love, driven by a desire to honor the magic and mystery that make Cornwall so unique.
Each piece begins with a visit to a specific site, where I immerse myself in its atmosphere—listening to the wind, observing the textures of stone and landscape, and feeling the weight of its history. I document the experience through sketches, photographs, and written notes, capturing both the tangible and the intangible elements of the place. Back in the studio, I dive deeper into research, exploring the myths, legends, and theories that give these locations their aura of wonder.
The resulting prints are a fusion of these experiences—part historical homage, part personal interpretation. Through Kowr, I hope to share not just the beauty of Cornwall’s ancient sites, but the sense of connection, curiosity, and reverence they inspire.
